Exhibitors, it’s that time of year again

    Hi everyone,

We’re opening the D’Escousse Gallery for the season and we want your work on the walls. This year we’re opening on Mother’s Day, Sunday May 11 — a wonderful day to welcome people in.

Drop-off days are Monday May 4 and Tuesday May 5, from 10am to 2pm at the D’Escousse Civic Improvement Society Hall. Please let us know which day and roughly what time you plan to come — it helps us make sure someone is there to receive you.

    When you come, please bring:

    — Your artwork

    — A numbered list of each piece with title, dimensions, medium, and price

    — Business cards or promotional materials — having your own cards at the gallery genuinely helps sell your work

    — Any stands, pedestals, or display equipment you plan to use (let us know the dimensions ahead of time if you can)

    — All hanging work must be properly secured — wire attached to two hooks is what works best

    A few things to know:

Student Attendant This summer we’ll have a student with us for 12 weeks to help run the gallery — which means we’ll have consistent coverage and a lively space all season.

Membership You must be a member of the Alliance to display your work at the gallery.

Volunteer Requirement Each exhibitor is asked to volunteer for at least 4 hours during the season. You won’t be on your own — and volunteering more is always welcome. A lively gallery sells more work. We’ll work out the details with you once we’re up and running.

Same 10% The Alliance retains 10% of each sale to support gallery operations. Square processes all transactions at 2.76%. Sales are paid out monthly by e-transfer.

We’re not collecting HST. If your business is HST-registered, please include it in your listed price.

Waiver All exhibitors sign a damage waiver on drop-off day. The hall and the Alliance are not liable for loss or damage — check your home insurance if you need coverage.

Please reply and let us know:

    — Which day you’re coming (May 4 or 5) and roughly what time

    — What display equipment you’re bringing, if any

    — Any questions

Reply to this email or contact Elaine at elainemandrona@gmail.com.

We can’t wait to see what you’re bringing this year.

    Gallery Update

Editor: We’re not entirely sure who is getting their emails from us and whose are going in their spam folder. Once we get a newsletter going we can solve that. But we want to ensure the people who want to exhibit to get this message. The date is coming fast.

    Hello Exhibitors

Here’s an update regarding the Richmond Artists Alliance gallery setup.

You can drop off your work on July 8th or 9th between 8:30 AM and 3:30 PM at the D’Escousse Civic Centre. A summer student will be there to assist you. The gallery room is to your left from the foyer. There are security cameras, and the student will lock the door at night.

Please have a numbered list of your work with descriptions, artist’s statement, and prices on your art. I also need an electronic copy of your list and statement. Email me at elainemandrona@gmail.com ASAP.

We will be setting up on July 10th starting at 9 AM. We thought it was better to have just a small setup crew, otherwise it would be too chaotic with 14 exhibitors. We are full! We may have to shrink the space for each artist from the originally estimated 6′ of wall space, depending on what art shows up and its size. We’re playing it by ear, but if you could send me your list of art and its dimensions ASAP, that would help us organize it effectively.

There is limited storage, so you will have to pick up boxes once the gallery is set up.

    This is exciting!

    Thanks for your participation,
    Elaine Mandrona
